Sensory Stuff's Maracas are great to use as a percussion instrument - for beating in time to a musical rhythm. Turn on the rhythm and shake and dance in time to the beat!

Some interesting background information: In order to execute a fluid pattern of movements, such a serving a tennis ball, or kicking a ball into the goals, we need to be able plan, anticipate, time and sequence our movements. This requires good neural timing. We can develop good neural timing by accurately tapping to a rhythm or moving to a rhythm. Sensory Stuff's simple Maracas are perfect for the job. They make a gentle unobtrusive shaking sound, which will not offend sensitive ears.

The Maracas can also be used to tap out a beat while singing or reciting words, and thus working on temporal ordering of speech patterns. Sensory Stuff's Maracas are also great for use when learning about syllables. It is so much easier for a child to hear the syllables in a word if he taps in time to the syllables while saying the words. March, stomp, and jiggle the shakers in time to any rhythm!
