Description

Sensory Stuff Button Bag give children an opportunity to practice some of the manipulative hand skills involved in buttoning and unbuttoning tasks.

Button Bag – Loose Buttons – The task is made a little more difficult, because the button is not stitched onto fabric, but is loose, and needs to be securely held using a firm clasping action in a palmar pad grasp.  Once the buttons have all been pushed through the buttonholes into the bag, the child can work on tactile discrimination skills to locate the button in the bag and to move it into a buttonhole, before grasping it through the fabric. The child then needs to correctly orientate the button, ready to push it out of the bag through the buttonhole.

Button Bags are approximately 32cm long and 10cm wide and each button is approximate 2cm in diameter
