Puzzle 8+1 Dinosaurs is a very durable double-sided puzzle! Build the 8 four piece puzzles, then flip the same pieces over and build a large 32 piece puzzle of these cute dinosaurs!
8 Mini Puzzles
For younger children let them start with one puzzle at a time, make sure the pieces are facing the right way. Later place all the pieces together on a playing surface to make the task a little more difficult. Puzzle pieces are self correcting, so only the correct piece will fit.
Let the child compare the pieces with the images on the back of the box, drawing their attention to the details of each individual design.
Learn about Dinosaurs
Once the mini-puzzles have been put together, play with children by asking them to recognise the dinosaurs using questions: “Which one is the Velociraptor? And which one is the Tyrannosaurus-rex? Where is the triceratops?” Then ask children to remember the name of the dinosaurs: for example, ask “What is the name of this dinosaur? And this one? And this other one?”. You can also add information about the world of the dinosaurs in prehistory: for example, tell children that the Tyrannosaurus-Rex lived about 66-68 million years ago.
Who lives in the Prehistoric World?
Now put together the larger puzzle and then children can play a game pointing out and naming the volcano, the plants, and the dinosaurs. Or have fun inventing stories featuring the characters in the drawing. Start the stories by asking questions like, “Which dinosaur is a herbivore? Which one is the fastest?”
