Scooterboard activities for shoulder and core muscle strengthening
Collecting Treasure : Scatter beanbags (little treasure bags), around on the floor and let the child collect all the beanbags while scooting about on their tummy, on the scooter board. Encourage them to use their arms to propel themselves, rather than to push with their feet.
Knocking over Skittles: Set up skittles in the centre of the room, and let the child propel themselves by pushing away from from a wall, using their feet.
Hoolahoop Pull-along: The child lies on tummy. Use a hoolahoop for the child to hold onto, while you pull them in various directions over a smooth floor surface. Great for encouraging good co-contraction movements of the shoulders, and for strengthening hands.
