Therapy Putty

Description

Therapy Putty provides strong resisted activity for the hands and fingers and also provides organising proprioceptive input. Use in preparation for fine-motor activity and to strengthen hands and fingers.

Useful Tip: Encourage your child to hold the Putty in his hands while kneading it with his fingers. Children will be inclined to put the Putty on a table surface and to push down on it and to knead it, with the table providing a surface to push against. If the child is encouraged to hold the Putty in his hands, he will require more physical and muscular effort to knead the putty.

The child can push small objects such as small plastic beads or pegboard pegs into the Therapy Putty and pull the Putty over them to hide them away. Once they are all hidden, squeeze and flatten the Putty to reveal the hidden tiny objects and to pull them out of the Putty.

Picking off bits of the Putty and rolling bits back into a ball also requires good fine coordination and dexterous finger movements.
